Condolences

WALTON, KY – George Henry Vogt, 89, passed away November 8th at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. He was born in Webster, NY, and lived in Topsfield MA, before retiring to Hendersonville, NC. After service with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in the U.S. Army during World War II, he studied engineering at Clarkson University and later earned a masters degree from Northeastern University. He was an engineer with General Electric Company for 40 years in Lynn, MA, where he received a number of patents. He was a member Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, Clarkson University Alumni, and served as Chairman of the Topsfield School Board. He was preceded in death by his wife Anne Vogt, brothers Robert, Howard and Anthony, and sister Dorothy. Survivors include his sister Jean Ryan of Tipp City, OH, sons Michael Vogt of Walton, KY, James Vogt of North Attleboro, MA, Joseph Vogt, Berwyn, PA, and daughters Elizabeth Vogt of Ada, OH, Kathleen “Rudi” Stahl of Spring, TX, Margaret Furlong of Amesbury, MA, and Gretchen Trull of Ellenboro, NC. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, November 12 at 10:30 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Edgewood, KY. Memorials may be made to Meals-on-Wheels, 105 King Creek Blvd. Hendersonville, NC 28792.
