Elenie “Lennie” Speron (Spiropoulos) Wuchner, 88 yrs. went into the loving arms of Jesus in the early hours of August 8th, after an 18 month courageous journey following diagnosis of an inoperable brain tumor. Lennie was born in Kefalari-Corinth, Greece, April 10, 1926, daughter of James and Andromachi (Fotopolous) Spiropoulos. Her father served in the US Army – WWI, marrying in Greece and after saving enough money brought his young family to New York in 1930. Following high-school Lennie attended the Pratt Art Institute. May 1949, she married her true love – Ernie Wuchner (dec.)
Lennie was a remarkable woman, wife, mother, homemaker, enchanting story teller, an avid movie goer she became a Movie critic at 80 with quite a Hollywood following. A Renaissance Woman, Lennie, was lover of the arts, knowledge and the written word, celebrating the day with tea at 2:00, wine at 4:30 and a scoop of ice cream before bed. She performed Fencing demonstrations at the 1964 Worlds Fair in New York, was a Trivial Pursuit champion, recorded a golf hole-in-one, and was a world traveler. Lennie also had the honor of being a Kentucky Colonel.
She will be missed and remembered by host friends but especially by her family; son Jan and his wife Addia Wuchner, son Clay Banks Wuchner, grandchildren – Holly & (Steven) Mason, Aaron Wuchner and Jonathan Wuchner and their families including nine great grand children- John Paul, Christopher, Lincoln, Elizabeth, Amme & Amelia, Max, Harlan and Anastasia, dear cousins, nieces and nephews and our faithful wheaten terrier Buddy.
Visitation & celebration of Lennie is Tuesday August 19 – 9:30 to 10:45 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington. Final resting place San Lorenzo Cemetery, St Augustine, FL. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Ark Scholarships for Children with Dyslexia 501c3 c/o 2748 Daphne Dr, Union, KY 41091
