Condolences

Elaine Mary Buchheit Bisig of Florence, Kentucky passed away on May 4, 2025.  Elaine worked for Walgreens and retired after 25 years of service. She was an active member of St. Timothy Church in Union, KY and served as a volunteer in many different areas and ministries.

Elaine put her faith and family before everything else.  Elaine’s parents, Mary Ellen and William Buchheit, preceded her in death, as did her beloved first husband of 25 years, Robert Bisig, and her second husband of 25 years, Jerome Makin.  Elaine is also proceeded in death by her sisters Ruth Zeis and Janet Hildebrand (Ray), and sister-in-law, Diane Detzel (Bill).

She is survived by her four children Daniel Bisig (Robin), Daryl Bisig (Valeria), Donna Rizzo (Kurt) and Denise Johnson (Mike).  Her grandchildren include Taylor (Rebecca) and Kendall, Caleb, Haylee and Noah Bisig; Jared and Austin Rizzo; Rachel, Micah, Adam and Marie Johnson.  Elaine’s surviving siblings include Joseph Buchheit (Pam), Jean Fry (Jim) and Jane Scharstein (Matt), and brother-in-law, Edward Bisig (Lila).  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 9AM-10AM with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Timothy Church, 10272 US-42, Union KY 41091.  Interment will take place at St. Stephen Cemetery in Fort Thomas, KY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Foundation and Hospice Fund, 1 Medical Village Dr. Edgewood, KY 41017.  Family would like to thank our friends at Colonial Heights for making special connections and caring for mom during her last months with us, St. Elizabeth for taking such wonderful care of mom following her stroke, and our old and new friends and “family” at Hospice.  To anyone who loved our mom, thank you for being a special part of her life. To those of us left behind, as much as she loved us in life, we will miss her dearly in death, until we meet again.
