Edward Story
Obituary
Condolences

Edward A. Wilbers, 77, of Edgewood, KY, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 16, 1948, to the late Edward W. and Thelma Wilbers, Ed was a lifelong Northern Kentuckian whose kindness, creativity, and unmistakable humor brought laughter and warmth to all who knew him. A 4th-generation home builder with Wilbers and Son Builders, Ed proudly continued a family legacy in the building industry that spans over 50 years and was a past president of the Northern Kentucky Homebuilders’ Association. Through his work, he helped shape the landscape of Northern Kentucky, constructing homes and small commercial buildings with care, vision, and craftsmanship.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ed was a gifted musician and lifelong rock and roll enthusiast. He played piano, sang, and performed in numerous bands starting in high school. Most notably, he was a member of The New Lime Band, which recorded songs played on the radio and was inducted into the Northern Kentucky Music Legends Hall of Fame in 2014. His musical journey also included bands like Handle With Care, Ooh La La and the Greasers, and other local groups.

His passion for music was matched by his love for people. Ed had an unforgettable sense of humor and a gift for making friends everywhere he went. He never met a stranger. He loved his family deeply, cherishing every moment at his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, taking trips with them, and spending time together at family events.

A dedicated community member, Ed was a parishioner at St. Barbara Catholic Church, was one of the founding directors of Citizens Bank of Northern Kentucky. He was an avid fan of local teams, including the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, University of Kentucky Wildcats, and Xavier Musketeers. He also enjoyed playing sports, particularly tennis and golf.

Whether he was cracking a joke, building a home, or sharing a favorite Elton John or Rolling Stones song, Ed lived fully and loved generously.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward W. and Thelma Wilbers; and mother and father-in-law, William and Lucille Schreiber.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Martha Wilbers (nee Schreiber); children: Ed Wilbers, Jennifer (Ed) McMillan, Jessica (Gary Smallwood) Wilbers and Julie Wilbers; grandchildren: Ashley, Charlie and Chad Wilbers, Katie, Jacob and Tyler McMillan, Bailey, Savannah and Benjamin Twehues; sisters: Kathy Seal, Peggi Pleiman and Pam Wilbers; sister-in-law, Carol Hodge; brothers-in-law: Bill, Tom (Mary Ellen) and Larry Schreiber; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Home, 30 Commonwealth Ave., Erlanger, KY 41018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 10:00 AM, at St. Barbara Church, 4042 Turkeyfoot Rd., Erlanger, KY 41018 with interment to immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Ft. RIP! Prayers For The Family. Judy McQueen

Rembering Eddie Sr.

I want to send my condolences and my continued prayers to Martha, Eddie Jr, Jennifer, Jessica and Julie and to their entire extended families. I am saddened beyond belief to have missed Eddie’s funeral. I have been struggling with health issues myself and this was the reason I could not attend. What a wonderful addition Eddie was to our entire family! I well remember Eddie’s humor, his kindness and also his musical talents. What a gifted human being. Heavenly sent to all of us. 😇 I have so many good memories of Eddie’s jokes at our cousins luncheons and dinners at Pee Wee’s. You will be missed Eddie. I will love you forever. Sincerely, Gail Hollenkamp
