Dr. Meliah Marie Blair

Obituary
Condolences

Dr. Meliah Blair, 30, of Newport, KY, formerly of Ft. Mitchell, passed away unexpectedly at her home on May 11, 2025.

Born on January 9, 1995, in Edgewood, KY, Meliah was the youngest child of Don and Sue Blair. She was a 2013 graduate of Beechwood High School, went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Northern Kentucky University, and completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University in 2021. Meliah was the Lead Veterinarian at Lawrenceburg Veterinary Clinic, where she was deeply respected by her colleagues and clients alike. Her professional passions included radiology, ultrasound, surgery, and overall wellness care for animals.

Meliah’s intelligence and curiosity took her around the world — from China to Switzerland, Italy, and Paris — but she always returned home to Kentucky, where she has made a lasting impact. She had dreams of someday living in southern Europe, a reflection of her adventurous spirit.

She was an eclectic soul — brilliant, silly, kind, compassionate, and full of laughter. Meliah loved Renaissance fairs, landscaping, reading, and had a flair for fashion. Though stylish and social, she was secretly a proud nerd. She found deep joy in her furry companions, Hattie B, a loyal Golden Retriever, and Figgy, her beloved cat.

Meliah is survived by her parents, Don and Sue Blair; her siblings, Jay (Anna) Blair, Cassie (Manny) Adams, and Nathaniel (Kimberly) Blair; twelve nieces and nephews; and many extended family members in Wisconsin. She also leaves behind her dear friend Kaitlin (Dylan) Lawless and a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and clients who will deeply miss her competitive spirit and loving guidance.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Patricia Blair, and her maternal grandfather, Richard Kremer.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Mansion Hill Sanctuary in Newport, KY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Angel Fund at Lawrenceburg Veterinary Clinic which was very important to Meliah.

HEART BROKEN

My deepest sympathies go out to Dr Blair’s family. I am keeping all in prayer as well as Lawrenceburg Vet Clinic. I was so heart broken when I read the news. Dr Blair was one of a kind. Sweet, gentle soul that truly touched my life on many levels. She was great with our pets. Especially one of our Geriatric dogs who ended up with heart issues. I laughed and said we were on the same meds now. I had just had a heart attack a few weeks earlier and she looked at me and said (and meant it) Well, I’m glad you’re still here. No one had said that to me. Not even family. I was so touched. She hugged me. She ended up helping him cross over at a later date, but helped us give him good quality of life while we could. I enjoyed seeing her. She taught me a lot on visits. Not just on animals, but also life itself. The world has suffered a great loss. I am so sorry for everyone’s loss. She’s sorely missed.

From a pit crew parent

Hi Don and Sue and family, we are very saddened at the news of the passing of Meliah. We send to you our prayers and condolences. Love, Lisa & Kadir

Knowing Meliah in the Little Ways Changed My Life

I work at the coffee shop where Meliah was an absolute star regular — a regular who quickly and naturally morphed into a true friend. I am not exaggerating and I speak for all of us at the cafe when I say she is one of the kindest, sweetest, most favorite people to come in. Seeing her in the mornings on her way to work or Fridays on her day off, before heading out to go thrifting or meet friends, I realize now was a cherished part of my week for the past year and a half. A ray of sunshine every time she stepped in, she always took the time to ask how I’m doing, what am I up to this weekend, we would exchange books we were reading and photos of pets and travels. She would keep me updated on a running list of funny/cute cat or dog names she would come across in her clinic (the clinic for which her passion always shined through). She would always take to the time to have a genuine conversation with me and she would always pause before walking out the door to look at us and thank us so sincerely for her morning coffee. Even in the littlest things like this, like an iced white mocha lavender latte with soy milk, she was so genuine and kind and loving. She was always telling me about fun evenings and book clubs and lake stories with her friends and family and I always remarked how deeply she loves them, how incredible of a daughter, friend and sister she is. I told her once that I strive to be as active of a friend as she is to hers. She talked so lovingly of the library her family helped build into her house, the gardening she would do with them, Miss Hattie B and Figgy (who I sometimes jokingly called Fig Newton). Her older sister who shares my name and as she put it is meant to be a teacher. I took up this barista job meaning for it to be a temporary thing, but it has lead me to meeting some of my favorite people, and if taking this job only ever led me to meeting Meliah I would be eternally grateful. And I would do it a million times over. Knowing Meliah has been an absolute blessing. I am absolutely crushed and have been forever touched by her kind and loving presence. I will carry her with me always and I strive to be more like her in every way.

With deepest sympathy

Don and Sue and family, we were just devastated at the news of the loss of Meliah. She was one of Molly’s sweetest little friends growing up. We will be lifting you all up in prayer. Love, Rob and Jayne

A huge loss to this world.

Meliah has had a major impact on my life in such a short amount of time. Working closely beside her every day to assist in her love of animals was an incredibly rewarding experience. She taught me so much with her compassion, intelligence, and just pure genuineness. The world took a massive loss and Lawrenceburg will make sure her love for pets lives on. I will miss you so much Meliah. I have been praying for the family non-stop.

Just shattered

Dear Don and Sue – We were just shattered to hear the news of your loss. Meliah was one of the sweetest kids from Beechwood. She was adored by many and will be missed terribly. Our hearts are breaking for your loss. We will be lifting you all up in prayer and holding you close in our hearts. Rick and Linda Robinson

Deepest sympathies

Dr. Blair was so kind and compassionate. She just helped my dog cross the Rainbow Bridge last week. I will forever be grateful for her loving spirit. My sympathies to her family and co-workers.

I’m sorry for your loss

Dr. Blair was such a kind and caring veterinarian to our dogs. She helped us say goodbye to 2 of our dogs, one just on May 5th. She was always so sweet and I always enjoyed seeing her during my appointments. She will be missed by so many and I hope she’s getting all the puppy and kitty loves that she could ever want. We are so sorry for your loss and are praying for Dr. Blair and her family.
