Donna Murphy, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday December 20, 2023, at St Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, KY. She was truly one of a kind. With her exuberant personality and unmatched enthusiasm for life, she was a force of joy like you’ve never experienced. When she was a young woman she worked as a nurse’s aid where her caring and nurturing spirit was sure to touch the hearts of many patients. In her adult life, she loved spending time with family on vacations. Whether it be her yearly trips to Myrtle Beach; where she met her loving husband, frequenting Disney and Universal parks, and more recently, a cruise to the Bahamas. Donna loved to feed the birds, a trait she earned from her mother. It didn’t matter where they were, she would keep old loafs of bread in the car just to feed birds in a parking lot. She loved her job at the DoubleTree Hotel and was loved even more by all her co-workers. She loved to sing with her powerhouse soprano voice, especially at Christmas parties. While born and raised in Massachusetts, Donna was lucky enough to live in many other places including South Carolina, Utah, Ohio, New York, Kentucky and even Germany and England. Her light and joy has been spread far and wide leaving behind a trail of laughter and smiles. She will be dearly missed, but never, ever, forgotten. Donna is preceded in death by her father Robert Sampson, mother Jeanne Sampson (nee Woodsum), sister Robin Sampson and sister Linda Cruickshank. Survivors include her husband Michael Murphy, daughter Amanda Murphy, daughter Diana Murphy, sister Deborah (Gene) Lacey, sister Paula Sampson and brother Robert Sampson. Visitation will be held Thursday December 28, 2023 from 9:30am to 10:30am with a blessing to immediately follow at Linnemann Funeral Homes 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005. Burial will be held at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross 2111 Dana Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45207. Sang Like An Angel

I worked with Donna for 10 years at the Doubletree Hotel. She always had a smile on her face and a song to sing. I will truly miss her. It was a pleasure to have known Donna.

Lucky enough to have known

I got to know Donna while my brother dated her twin sister Debbie. I sometimes squeezed into a car with their gang while being watched by my brother. Always getting fussed over. These are very old memories. However, to know Donna was to know Donna. As life events went forth and many gatherings, Donna was always such a nice person. A outrageously fun person and a caring person. I’ll never forget when she sang at I think Debbie and Gene’s wedding and as most singers who give it all they have, Donna was visibly crying. Since she’s traveled and lived so many places I’ve only seen her sparsely, but when we did see each other, even if years between it was that wonderful smile and happy to catchup. She will be missed, but remembered fondly.

We love you and miss you!

Donna was bigger than life itself. When I was a young child I was immediately drawn to her! she was so much fun! she had the light of joy inside of her and it shined so bright! You can never replace someone like her! I loved her even thought she lived a million miles a away, but kept in touch on facebook messages, just recently about her knee replacement surgery. I was totally shocked about be passing and my heart and prayers go out to the family! It is such a big loss for her family! the obituary said it all and it is very true. I wish I could be with you and your family in your time of grief. Donna really touched my heart! I am deeply saddened. Heaven just got another angel and I am sure she is the life of the party there! With a heavy heart and until we meet again, party on! Love Patricia, John Westhaver and Gene Lacey Sr.

We will miss you neighbor

We will miss that Bostonian accent, which she couldn’t hide if she tried, and her brilliant smile. It was fun to watch her get into the spirit of Halloween, the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve each year. She fed the birds as well as the stray cat that adopted her. Her kind heart will be missed.
