Dominick W. Cordelli

Obituary
Condolences

Cordelli, Dominick William born on March 24, 1939 died June 12, 2025 at the age of 86.

Dominick was born in White Plains, New York where he lived until his teenage years when his family moved to East Meadow on Long Island, New York.  Dom joined the Marine Corps in 1958 and served for six years.  He was stationed in North Carolina and Japan where he spent a great deal of time volunteering at an orphanage in Okinawa near the base.  After returning stateside, he met his “Lady” on a blind date in Pensacola, Florida.  He married Mildred Baldwin on April 20, 1963 in Pensacola and they were married for 62 years.  After completing his enlistment with the Marine Corps, Dom and Milly moved to New York where he began his career with Pan American Airlines as a mechanic and eventually worked his way to Professional Flight Engineer.  As a Professional Flight Engineer, Dom fell in love with instructing, and in 1975, took his family on an adventure, moving them to Amman, Jordan, where he assisted the Jordanian airline, Alia, in setting up their pilot training program.  The Cordelli family returned to New York in 1977 before moving again in 1979 to Miami as a result of the Pan Am-National merger.  Six years later, in 1985, Dom resigned from Pan Am to join the newly developing training department with DHL Airways.  Dom and Milly then moved to Florence, Kentucky in 1986, where Dom remained with DHL Airways until his retirement in 2006.  In his retirement, he devoted his time to his church as a eucharistic minister and to the Marine Corps League of Northern Kentucky.  He also mentored young men through his involvement with the Northern Kentucky Young Marines.  Dominick loved nothing more than to be flying up in God’s country.  In addition to his love of family and flying, he cherished his faith, the Marine Corps, and the New York Yankees.

Dominick is survived by his loving wife, Mildred Baldwin Cordelli and his daughters Maria, Kathy (Stephen), Paula, Sharon (Charles), grandchildren, Travis, Adam, Caitlin, Nicholas, Cory, Samantha, Will, and three great-grandchildren.  Dominick is predeceased in death by his parents, Nazarene and Regina Cordelli, and his brother, Stephen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots.
