Obituary
Condolences

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Diane Sue Petrie, on February 9, 2025, at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Diane was born in Wolf Lake, IN. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Florida Southern College and spent 30 years as an OR nurse, where her commitment to helping others touched countless lives. She was deeply passionate about her work and always went above and beyond to care for her patients. Her kindness and professionalism made a lasting impact on the many people she cared for throughout her career.

In addition to her work in healthcare, Diane had a lifelong passion for equestrian activities, and her love for horses brought her great joy. She spent many years riding and caring for her horses, and her love for the equestrian world was an important part of who she was.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Charles Petrie; her parents, Virginia Guenin and Glen Guenin. She is survived by her children, Matthew Petrie (Heather), Michael Petrie (Denise), and Brandi Jaber; her sister, Rhonda Shepherd; and her grandchildren, Alex Jaber, Zachary Petrie, and Andrew Petrie.

Though Alzheimer’s took much from her in the final years of her life, it could not diminish the love, care, and generosity she shared with those around her.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth by clicking on the following link DONATE

From Marsha & dick johnson

I was a child hood friend of Diane’s until I moved away from Indiana at age 12. We spent a lot of time together swimming at bear lake & ice skating and riding bikes all over. We also took ballet dance lessons. We reconnected in Florida about 2w years ago thru a mutual friend & went out to eat several times she & dick. Also after dick passed Barbara bitting lockett & I would go visit her in debary til she left for Kentucky. She will be missed. Condolences to her family. From Marsha & dick johnson.

Life long friend

I have known Diane since I was about 14 years, give or take a couple of years. She was a life-long friend. Unfortunately I have not been able to visit her in KY due to my own physical limitation as I am the same age as Diane. I knew her parents, her husband very well as he and I lived about 2 miles apart and were very close friends. I am sorry for her passing but happy that she is now at peace. I have too many memories of her to even be able to talk about. Even though I have not visited with her for a number of years now, I will carry the memories I have of Dick and Diane for whatever time is left to me.
May God bless her and the family.
