David L. Kroth

Obituary
Condolences

David Lee Kroth, 86, of Union, KY, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 23, 2023.  David was born on August 1, 1937, in Covington, KY to the late Allen B. and Caroline McGuire Kroth.

David was a graduate of Newport Catholic High School and attended trade school.   He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Airforce from 1956-1960. He was the owner of Dave Kroth & Sons Construction and specialized in building homes.

David met the love of his life, Kathy in 1955 at a high school football game.  They later got married in 1957 and started a life together, having seven wonderful children.  David and Kathy raised their children on the family farm in Union and raised beef cattle.  Over the years, he raised different breads of cattle and all types of birds on his farm. David also enjoyed deer hunting and a good drink of bourbon. David was a good-hearted man.  His presence was known as he came in the room with his loud, roaring voice.  To his grandkids, he was known as “Pappy Coot” and to friends he was “Old Coot”, but he will be remembered by his great sense of humor, his positive influence he shared with so many young men that worked for him and his larger-than-life personality.  He loved his family fiercely and all that had the privilege of knowing and loving him will miss him greatly in the days to come.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Allen B. and Caroline Kroth; brothers, Allen Kroth and Danny Kroth.

Those left here to carry on his legacy are his loving wife of 66 years, Kathy Kroth; children, Mary (Ronnie) Wolfe, Terri Kroth, Paul (Brenda) Kroth, Diane (Kevin) Murray, David Kroth, Tom (Rennae) Kroth, Michael (Missy) Kroth; one sister, Ruth Ann Sturgis; 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.  David also leaves behind his three, four-legged companions, Rocky II, Bella, and Beast.

A visitation will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, at Linnemann Funeral Home 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  A Mass of Christian burial will take place Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Timothy Catholic Church 10272 US-42 Union, KY 41091.  David will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY.
