Dan Rogus, who just turned 50 on August 27, passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2022.  Dan was in the best shape of his life after maintaining a streak of 685 straight days burning at least 1,000 calories, but he experienced a sudden, as-of-yet unexplained heart problem from which he could not recover.

Dan was a force of nature.  He was first and foremost a devoted father.  His wallet contained 37 photographs approximately ½ inch thick of his wonderful daughter, Katelyn.  When Katelyn was first born, Dan was a stay-at-home Dad.  Over the years, he maintained the mindset of the stay-at-home Dad while rising in the ranks of the sales world.  Dan was extremely proud to become the National Sales Manager of Material Motion in Atlanta, Georgia, but he never lost sight of the important things in life—his beloved Mary, his family, his fitness, his softball and pickleball skills, his Ohio State Buckeyes, and all pro sports coming out of Cleveland.  In 2007, he watched every one of the 162 regular season games of the Cleveland Indians, plus all playoff games.

Dan’s competitive spirit and work ethic were unparalleled.  His passion for all things sport extended to coaching a recreational volleyball team known fittingly as Boom Shaka Laka! Dan was always the life of the party; he could make anyone laugh and always strived to make others feel better when they needed it most. Most of all, Dan loved his family and always set a good example being a strong leader and an inspiring father.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Grace Rogus and brother: Christopher Rogus. Dan is survived by his daughter: Katelyn Rogus, fiancé: Mary Stauffer, step-children: Brenna Stauffer, Danny Stauffer, Charlie Stauffer, and Naomi Stauffer, brothers: Kevin Rogus, Peter Rogus, and Tim Rogus, Sister: Susan Minoughan, nieces and nephews: Virginia and CJ Rogus, Brittany, Tiffany, and Nicole Rogus, Michael and Kelly Minoughan, Lauren and Collin Rogus, and great-niece: Rory Minoughan.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 10:30am to 1:30pm at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 1:30 pm. Dan will be laid to rest at Burlington Cemetery. In honor of Dan, please come in Cleveland or Ohio State attire or just scarlet and gray.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America at www.adaa.org or to National Multiple Sclerosis Society at https://mssociety.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.personalCampaign&participantID=212966or to Team Danny at https://www.gofundme.com/f/Team-Danny-Stauffer .

,

To Dan’s family

I am sorry I was unable to make the service due to a previous commitment. I knew Dan only recently but found him to be a wonderful person who cared deeply about all of this family. While I didn’t know any of you personally, I felt like I knew you from what Dan shared with me. I hope you find comfort in the life that Dan lived and the memories he left behind.

Dan The Man

Dan and I had the pleasure of working together at Material Motion for the past 11 years. During that time not only did I consider Dan a beloved co-worker, but also a friend. During these 11 years it was very rare that we would go a week without speaking with each other. Most of these conversations started with an update on a customer we were working together, but rarely ended without talking about sports, life, and of course Adam Sandler movies. That was the guy Dan was, always wanting to connect with people on a deeper level. No question the funniest guy I have ever met as well. He could always tell when I was having a bad day and his personality alone would help me snap out of it. By the end of those conversations we would both be belly laughing so hard i’m sure everyone else in the office heard it. Dan would always tell me that “people buy from people they like” and that was his sales philosophy; it worked! He had a way with words “the gift of gab” as they say and has taught me so much over the years. For that I will be eternally grateful.

Words cant describe the loss of Dan. He was always upbeat, positive, and genuinely cared about the people he worked with. We will never meet another Dan. Rest in peace my brother.

Gift of a Father

The true measure of a Father is the child he leaves behind. The joy and love that was installed into her as she grew. The wit and tenacity that she showed as she grew. The love that she felt each day as she grew. The winks, the smiles, the laughs and the tears. These are all the gifts of a father who loved you. Every day just know that God has you in his living embrace. Especially on the days it hurts the most. You are his love and his spirit. May God bless you and comfort you in the knowledge that your dad walks with you for the rest of your days.

To the nicest and funniest man Dan Rogus

I was lucky enough to go to one of the greatest football games ever with Dan and his brother Pete. It’s was number 1 Ohio State vs number 2 Michigan. It was 40 degrees and Dan had on Ohio st jersey and shorts on. That was it. Great game OSU won and the 3 mile walk home was the funniest time I ever had. Dan was so funny he had me crying. I had to stop walking because I couldn’t breathe from laughing so hard. Ever time I saw him he also put the biggest smile on my face. He will be missed but never forgotten. Love u Dan. Devo

To Dan Rogus’ Family

I had the pleasure working with Dan for 12 years. He was such a wonderful person and always wanted to help others. He was warm-hearted and all of us know he cared very much about his friends, family, and had a huge passion in work. He talked about his workout schedules a lot and was very proud of it. I would never forget about the laughs and energies he could naturally bring in anywhere and anytime. I’m sorry for your loss. Dan will be deeply missed by all of us.

In Honor of Daniel S. Rogus, Esquire.

I would often answer Dan’s call with the Daniel S. Rogus, Esquire as if not for just hearing him laugh, but to hear his best, “WELL HELOOOOOOO GOOD SIR!” response cracked me up every time.
Was never a dull moment and always was happy to hear his insight or experience on all things life, work, sports.
Very sad to see him gone so suddenly and so soon, Dan made a very positive impact on my life and miss him greatly.
My condolences to Dan’s family, friends and acquaintances, blessings to all.

Selfless

I had the pleasure of working with Dan for nearly 6 years. He was always available to help even if it took away from his own time. I am sorry that we never had that racquetball match he challenged me to. It’s a reminder that we need to give that hug every time we have the chance.

To Dan Rogus Family

“DAN the MAN”, “The Big Guy” just a couple of the names I call Dan. (the nice ones!) I worked with him at Material Motion, and I feel so blessed to be able to work with him and more importantly call him my friend. Our first phone call was suppose to only be 30 minutes or so, 1.5 hours later we are still talking and laughing. Texting each other during sport events on TV.
His positive attitude and competitiveness is what we shared from the first call. He was a role model and mentor to me. (as to many others)
Always a cheerleader and motivator for many of us, too. I will miss him deeply and my life has changed with knowing him as a friend and co-worker for ever. Now to not be able to call him and talk is heartbreaking. He is missed deeply and is one of the people in your lifetime that made you be a better person just being around him! God Bless! With love, Kelly Chapin, Material Motion

To Dan Rogus Family

I have only known Dan for a short time, but in that time I found him to be a kind, funny, helpful, heartfelt, and an introspective person. He loved his family and his work. The memory of him that will stay with me is bowling at the company event this past April. He was bowling backwards between his legs and making strikes – it was quite funny. My prayers for comfort and strength to the family.

Respectfully,
Tonya Lynn – Material Motion

To Dan Rogus Family

Dear Family,
I’ve known Dan for one year at Material Motion. I remember he introduces himself to me for the first time. I was so shy at that time; however, He introduced himself with a big smile. He told me if I need any help, please give him a ring. The first time, when I met him, I always remember he has an awesome tattoo on his arm! he was a muscular guy!
I really have a pleasant time working with DAN this past year. No matter whether we met in a short period of time. I will always remember him!

“Dan was a force of nature.”

My heart is broken that I will not see or speak with Dan again.

I only met Dan a couple of years back and started working with him shortly after. Though we became friends quickly because of common backgrounds, I don’t think Dan met anyone who didn’t become a friend. I stole the quote for the title of this message, but “force of nature” is the perfect way to describe him. The hard work and dedication that he put into getting himself into shape over the past couple of years is exactly the ambition that he brought to everything that he did. He was successful in his profession because failure wasn’t an option and he put the effort into achieving every single day. Sales, softball, pickle ball, fitness….. he was a fierce competitor no matter what he was involved in doing. Every goal that he set, he went after and achieved. And he would follow-up by setting higher goals and getting after them.

Driven, kind, smart, and funny, funny, funny! Dan, I will remember you always because you are a one-of a kind. I will miss the laughs, and will smile every time I think of you.

Your “brother-from-another-mother” – Ted Rykoski

To the Family of Dan Rogus

I am new to Material Motion. But I had the pleasure of speaking with Dan a few times over the past month as a new Account Manager. He was a delight to speak with. He was very upbeat, positive, helpful, encouraging, and I thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with Dan. The response I continuously received in telling others about my conversations with him was, “yeah he’s awesome”! “He is the best Rep to work with”! Please don’t tell the other’s we said that. LOL. Only being here a month, I can see the impact he made on others at Material Motion. Dan left a loving mark on everyone one here that new him or had some kind if interaction with him. My heart goes out to his family. I will keep you all in my prayers. Dan will always be in our hearts. Heath
