Dale McPhillips, 70, of Crescent Springs, KY, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024, after a year-long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Dale grew up on Mt. Hope Rd. in Price Hill with his six brothers, often reminiscing about his adventurous childhood. He wished he could take his own children back in time to join him in jumping off barges, swimming and canoeing in the Ohio River, and running around the woods having BB gun fights.

Dale’s strong work ethic began early. At age 10, he started his first job with a paper route and delivered groceries to the elderly in his neighborhood. After graduating from Quarter Tech High School, Dale secured a position as a diesel mechanic at Cummins Bridgeway, where he proudly served thousands of customers and trained hundreds of mechanics over his 46-year career. He also dedicated his time to his community as a member of St. Henry’s Church in Erlanger for 11 years and St. Joseph’s Church in Crescent Springs for the past 33 years, volunteering at church festivals and participating in various committees, including Eucharistic adoration and groundskeeping.

Above all, Dale was a devoted family man. He never missed an event for his five children and coached their teams for 35 years in Erlanger and Villa Hills. He loved attending all sporting events, cheering on his kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews. Family vacations were his favorite, where he would walk the beach, collect shells, body surf, and flaunt his crazy hat collection during the Fieger Family golf scramble. Dale often said, “It’s better to be rich with family than anything else.”

In the end, Dale considered himself the richest man alive because of the love and joy his family brought him.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anne McPhillips; and his brothers, Dan and Patrick McPhillips.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lynn McPhillips (nee Fieger); his children, Kate (Wilder) Doucette, Tina (Kyle) Linnemann, Dale “Paul” (Anna) McPhillips, Claire (Mike) Sullivan, and Mark (Andrea) McPhillips; his brothers, Joe (Mary), Ray (Mary), Ron (Nancy), and Kevin (Caitilin).

Dale also leaves behind his grandchildren, Mark “Jack”, Paul “Elliot”, Darcy, Benjamin, Alice, Rowan, Henry, and Charlotte as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation for Dale will be on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, from 12:00-2:00PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Church in Crescent Springs, KY. He will be laid to rest at St. John’s Cemetery in a private burial ceremony.

Memorial contributions can be made online to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.

Dear Lynn and Family

Dale’s passing is very sad for all who knew him. He was such a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. His family is what he loved and they always came first. We feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to get to know him. We send deepest sympathies and love.

Jim and Harvest Doucette

Deepest Sympathy

I worked with Dale (Briar) at Cummins and ate lunch with him for 21 years. He never got tired of his Skyline Chili. I considered Briar a true friend. He really was the salt of the earth. Nick Dearth

To Lynn, Mark and the rest of the McPhillips family

We are saddened by the news of Dale’s passing. He was a kind and respectful man, traits we saw running through the entire McPhillips family. We enjoyed the years he spent coaching our oldest son Kevin in soccer, and have many fond memories of soccer tournaments, trips and gatherings of players and family. Our deepest sympathies to Lynn, Mark and the rest of the family. Warmest regards, Steve, Patti and Kevin Haughey

That Smile!

Love that picture because it shows the smile that Dale always seemed to have. I cherish the summers I spent with my McPhillips cousins, I think back on them often.
My deepest sympathy in the terrible loss you are all going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. ❤️❤️. Kathy Day
