Charlie Elsener

Charles “Charlie” R. Elsener, 95, of Ft. Wright, KY passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY. Charlie was a WWII Army veteran who served in Europe and the Pacific. He retired from Gliers in 1985. He was an usher at St. Agnes Church, member of the VFW, an avid card player and volunteered doing home repairs for Senior Services of Northern Kentucky. In 2004 he was nominated by Senior Services of Northern Kentucky and was awarded the NFL Community Quarterback Award for his service. Charlie is survived by his daughters: Carol Rekow (Carl); Linda Schneider and Jan Cummings (Mike); sons: Ted Elsener (Mary McFarland), Jim Elsener and Jack Elsener (Mary Anne); 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia “Ginnie” Elsener; granddaughter, Connie Rekow; son-in-law, Mark Schneider; brothers, Gus and Ed Elsener; and sister, Bert Schamer. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Agnes Church in Ft. Wright, KY.
