Tributes
Virginia C. “Cathy” Cochran, 74, of Union, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2026, just two days shy of her 75th birthday.
Born March 10, 1951, in Covington, Kentucky, Cathy was the daughter of the late Ira and Ida Geiger. She lived her life with remarkable strength, resilience, and a warm, outgoing spirit that drew people to her. Cathy was thoughtful and considerate, always putting the needs of others before her own and offering kindness wherever she could.
Cathy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a deeply present, loving, and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to loving and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will live on in their hearts forever.
She also found joy in the simple beauties of life. Cathy loved planting flowers and taking pride in her garden. The beach was a special place of peace for her—she loved sitting by the water and watching the waves roll in. For thirteen years, she was a proud member of the Terpsichore Dance Group, where she formed lasting friendships and enjoyed sharing her love of dance. Cathy was also generous in spirit and regularly supported numerous charitable causes.
Cathy is survived by her beloved husband, John Cochran, with whom she would have celebrated 35 years of marriage this August. She is also survived by her children, Ron (Renee), Denise (Gary), Joshua (Shannon), Brandi (Bob, LCDR, USN, Retired), and Traci (Aaron); twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and her brother Gregory.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lou Moore; her brother, Joe, her grandsons, Elias and Robert; and her great-grandson, Daxtin.
Cathy will be remembered for her strength, her generous heart, and the deep love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she cherished above all else.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Linnemann Funeral Homes – Burlington, with a funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Private entombment at Highland Cemetery will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a charity dedicated to cancer research or support, in Cathy’s honor.
