Carl H. Cummins of Burlington, Kentucky died peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the age of 81.Carl Cummins is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Bell) Cummins of Burlington; his children, Don (Robin) Cummins of Burlington, Dianne (Keith) Stillwell of Danville, KY; his grandchildren, Alison Cummins, Brittany Stillwell Krebs, Kelsey Stillwell, and Laura Cummins; his step-children Carla Steinbrenner of Lakeside, Yvonne Manning, Dixie Riegler, and Nick Bell of Burlington, Sherri Macko of Bartletsville, OK; and several step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife Patricia (Pat) Cummins and his parents, Matt and Minnie Cummins.
Carl was born on April 27, 1933 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky to Matt and Minnie Cummins. He attended Eastern Kentucky University. He married Pat Spoonamore, a vocal musician, in 1954. In 1962, he co-founded Holiday Cleaners in Florence, KY, now known as Braxton’s. In 1995 he married Kathy Bell. He was a life-long commercial and private pilot and developed Owen Air Park in Owenton, KY. He was a former Sunday School teacher, deacon, and member of Burlington Baptist Church in Burlington, KY. He enjoyed fishing, reading, flying, brass band music and spending time with family and friends.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, KY. Rev. Brittany Stillwell Krebs will officiate. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Burlington Baptist Church in Burlington, KY. Rev. Todd Toole, Dr. Keith Stillwell, and Rev. Brittany Krebs will officiate the service. The family will be available at the church at 10:30 a.m. to receive guests.
