Tributes
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Billy Whitson Cook, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
Born on August 16, 1932, in Covington, KY, to the late George Whitson and Frances Cook.
Bill met the love of his life, Mary Ann, when they were just teenagers at 14 and 16 years old. Their bond was instant and enduring. They were married on December 20, 1952.
After moving to Lexington, Bill earned a degree in business from the University of Kentucky. After graduating, he and Mary Ann returned to Northern Kentucky, where Bill founded and operated Cook Trucking Company—a business he owned and led for over 40 years.
Devoted to his community, Bill served as both president and vice president of the Lloyd High School Athletic Boosters and was an avid Bengals, Reds and University of Kentucky basketball and football fan.
Bill enjoyed working in the yard, tending to his garden, and spending time with family. Known for his quick wit and generous spirit, Bill was a man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was kind, loving and stubborn (in the best of ways).
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mary Ann; son, Clay Cook; grandson, Drew Norberg; parents, George and Frances Cook; sister, Eleanor Lee Plummer; and his beloved dog, Cassie.
Bill is survived by his loving daughters: Kerry (Alan) Moore, Connie (Mark) Norberg and Christy (Steve) Schutter, as well as “adoptive daughter”, Melissa Signore; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Malott; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of his family.
