Barbara Shea Barczak

Obituary
Condolences

Barbara Ann Shea Barczak, 74 of Ft. Mitchell, passed away on February 9, 2025. She was a devoted mother, a loving wife, and, to those who knew her best, simply “Nana.” Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love made her a mother figure not only to her own children but to all of those who knew her.

Barbara was born and raised in Westfield, Massachusetts, before moving to Cincinnati for her senior year of high school. Incredibly creative, generous, and a talented cook, she never let anyone leave her home hungry, always making sure her family and friends were well-fed and cared for. Some of Barbara’s favorite memories were made at her beloved retreat at Elk Lake in Owenton, Kentucky. Her cabin was her sanctuary, a place where she could relax, enjoy the beauty of nature, and spend time with family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was her family, to whom she devoted herself wholeheartedly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Shea, and her brother, Thomas “Skip” Shea.  Barbara is survived by her sister Maureen Avery, her beloved husband of 49 years, Sylvester Barczak; her children, Anthony “Tony” (Christie) Barczak, Christina “Chrissy” Barczak, Daniel “Dan” (Julie) Barczak, Thomas “Tom” (Angie) Barczak, and Michael “Mike” (Ashley) Barczak; and her cherished grandchildren, Anna, Joel, Erika, Myles, Tommy Jr., Norah, Patrick, and Ava.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes, Erlanger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 17, at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Edgewood. Barbara will be laid to rest privately by her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Barbara also had the utmost respect for those who serve in the military and would also ask to consider making donations to The HunterSeven Foundation (hunterseven.org) or SGT Daniel D. Gurr Foundation (danielgurrfoundation.org). Online condolences can be left at www.LinnemannFuneralHomes.com

Sympathy

I was so sorry to hear about Barb’s passing. May your memories and the knowledge that she’s at peace bring you comfort. Some wise person once wrote that “to grieve well is to live well.” I pray that you will all be able to do that.

Pokój Z Tobą

Syl, Tony, Chrissy, Danny, Tommy, & Mikey — We are all so sorry to hear about your incomparable loss. Our own sympathetic words could never truly ease your feelings of sadness & devastation in the wake of Barbara’s passing. Instead, we can gain comfort from the words of Wladislaw, the original patriarch of our branch of the Barczak Family here in the U.S.A. — he would say “Pokój Z Tobą” – i.e. – “Peace be with you” during difficult times, echoing the words of our Dear Lord Jesus Christ Himself). When nothing else matters or makes sense, please always remember the GOD Himself loves each and every one of you and that HE will be the Peace – the Peace that surpasses all understanding – that you need.

We love all Y’all.

Pokój Z Tobą.

Barczak Family

Growing up down the street from the Barczak family was always a joy. Seemingly endless days of playing and having fun and Barb always looked out for us like we were part of her family. My prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Be comforted in your faith that she is with the angles in Heaven as Jesus welcomes her into his loving arms.

The loss of Barbara

I am so saddened to hear about Barbara’s death. Our family memories from years ago are all so happy and significant to me. My sincere condolences to her beautiful family at this very sad time. She was very loved and may she rest in peace.

Norah Stewart (Barbara’s cousin)

~Tina Brown (co-worker of Christie Barczak)

Personal note

My deepest sympathy to you, Syl and the family. Remember Barb kindness whenever I visited your house. Barb will be missed by the family and all her friends. God bless and may He hold everyone close to Him during this time of mourning.

Barb Barczak

We have so many great memories of Barb. Mostly Her generosity cooking talent and ornery sense of humor especially on the house boat trips. Peace to all of You at her loss. Mary Beth & Jimmy Woods
