Austin Eli Merrell

Austin Eli Merrell, 30, of Fairfield, OH passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield. Austin was born September 30, 1991 in West Chester, OH. He was born with a rare condition called Coffin-Siris syndrome, which caused physical and mental disabilities. Austin’s disabilities made his life very difficult, but he never let it slow him down. He enjoyed watching TV and movies, especially Elmo. He enjoyed the holidays and loved to play with dolls with long hair. Austin was a former resident of Camelot Community Care Center and current resident at Parkside Nursing and Rehab Center, and he enjoyed socializing with the other residents and staff. He was named an honorary member of Boy Scout Troop #940 and he was a graduate of Fairfield High School class of 2012. Even with all of Austin’s struggles, he always had a positive attitude and sweet spirit.  He enjoyed being in charge and liked things just his way. He was preceded in death by his mother, Stacy Merrell, his maternal grandparents: Charles and Bertha Curtsinger, and his fraternal grandparents: Maynard and Elizabeth Merrell. Austin is survived by his loving father, Lance Merrell, his stepmother, Wendy Merrell, his siblings: Tyler (Jessi) Merrell, Jamie Crowe, Kara (Stephen) Harper, and Kyle Crowe, his niece, Emma Merrell, and nephew, Avi Merrell, and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A visitation will be held for Austin on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Linnemann Funeral Home, 30 Commonwealth Avenue, Erlanger, KY 41018. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 7:30 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
