Anita J. Carmack, 67, of Erlanger died peacefully Wednesday March 30th after a battle with cancer.
She was born April 15, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Harry R. and Mildred M. (Whitlaw) Miller. Anita was a graduate of Grove City High School in Grove City, OH. She is survived by her husband and high school sweetheart Ronald G. Carmack, their three children Aaron (Gwen) Carmack of Columbus, OH, Stephanie (Jason) Riedmiller of Villa Hills, and Cynthia (Jim) Davis of Mt. Vernon, OH, and three beautiful grandchildren Lauren, Julia and Kate. Anita is also survived by her siblings Janet Lester (Allen Thorn) of Sebastian, FL, Marilyn Rice of Hilliard, OH, Alan (Cathy) Miller of Fort Mill, SC, and family friend Beate Sommer of Grimstad, Norway.
Anita was a campaign manager and volunteer coordinator for numerous locally elected officials. She was active in the Kenton County Republican Women’s Club, who in 2014 honored her as Woman of the Year. Anita was an active community volunteer, involved with a number of not-for-profit organizations including the local chapter of the American Cancer Association, St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, and Covington Latin School. But first and foremost Anita was a church musician, with over 50 years experience as an organist at countless parishes, including 30 years as Director of Music at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lakeside Park, KY.
All memorial events will be held on Friday April 8, 2016 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 326 Madison Avenue, Covington, KY 41011. Visitation will be from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, and the funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm, the Reverend Linda Young presiding. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations in Anita’s memory be made to the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, PO Box 72810, Newport, KY 41072.
