Amy Lou Woodard Pannell passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2021 after a battle with cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband of thirty-seven years, Robert Pannell, and her daughter and son-in-law, Ashley Pannell and David Keim.
Amy was born on January 3, 1960 in Knoxville, Tennessee to James Harris and Amy (McLeod) Woodard. She and Robert met at Roane State Community College and the two married and later welcomed daughter Ashley into their family. Amy enjoyed a lifelong love of gardening, traveling, photography, and reading that she passed on to her daughter. She was known and adored by friends and family for her vivacious spirit and for always being the first to lend a hand in a time of need. In 2007, Amy received the gift of life, a liver transplant, which allowed her to spend thirteen amazing years with her family and friends and was big influence on her attitude towards life.
Amy is also survived by her siblings, Dolores Oliver and her husband Gene; Diana Davis and her partner Roger White; Alexander Woodard, George Woodard, Margaret Tipton and her husband Jim; and sister-in-law Marlene Woodard. In addition, she leaves behind her husband’s family, Jeannie Pannell, Richard and LeeAnn Pannell, and Susan Pannell, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Harris Woodard, II.
Due to the pandemic, a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to LifeCenter Organ Donor Network in honor of Amy’s memory.

One of a kind
Amy, you were the first one i spoke to when we were thinking about building next to you. You came out and talked to me for about an hour. That sassy attitude would have scared some away. Not me, we would keep each other on our toes. You welcomed our family like we were your own. So many times just seeing each other outside and talking. Watching you do the gardening because I didnt want to. All the small things I remember. You were good for so many people. That sarcasm that I loved….it was like our secret code. Pam, Evan, Karly, and I will miss you more than words. I wont forget you but I will miss spraying you with the hose when you drive by. Only two really good friends could do that and laugh.
