William Joseph George
William Joseph George (9/2/32 – 6/12/16) was born and spent his childhood in Parkersburg, West Virginia, son of Eunice and Austin, both educators. He received his education (BM and DM) at the University of Kentucky, where he his wife Sally Duke, who he married on 11/27/53. They settled in Erlanger, Kentucky. Bill made his living teaching band in the Kenton Country Schools and to scores of private students. He was also an active performer in the Cincinnati jazz scene. In his retirement, Bill pursued his other loves: learning languages, biking, reading, and sailing. Bill and his family spent many summers in the Boothbay Harbor area in Maine, and he owned and navigated a small sailing boat. He is survived by his loving wife Sally of 63 years and their four children, Paul (Sheri), Alice (Shawn), Leah (Jeff) and Sarah (Kevin) plus seven grandchildren: Alex, Kyle, Sam, Sally, Madelyn, Clay and Claudia. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
