SMITH CARRIE UNDERHILL AUGUST 24, 1921 – JUNE 10, 2009 CARRIE BELLE SMITH-A WONDERFUL MAISONETTE TRADITION-DIED JUNE 10, 2009 PEACEFULLLY AT HER DAUGHTER’S HOME IN NORTH CAROLINA. CARRIE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST SERVERS HIRED FOR WHAT WAS TO BECOME THE CHAMPION OF ALL MOBIL FIVE-STAR RESTAURANTS, THE MAISONETTE. HER CAREER AT THE MAISONETTE SPANNED 44 YEARS FROM 1949 UNTIL HER RETIREMENT AT THE AGE OF 72 IN 1993. GRACOUS AND SOFT-SPOKEN UNDERHILL-SMITH WAS A TRADITION WITHIN A TRADITION. BORN CARRIE BELLE HOLTZCLAW ON AUGUST 24, 1921 IN LANCASTER, KENTUCKY IN THE HEART OF THE BLUEGRASS. Her second husband Robert K. Smith preceded her in death. CARRIE IS SURVIVED BY HER FORMER HUSBAND, ROBERT WESLEY UNDERHILL, AGE 94 OF ERLANGER, KY; HER SON, RALPH WESLEY UNDERHILL, OF ERLANGER, KY.; HER DAUGHTER, CASSANDRA (SANDY) UNDERHILL MOORE OF HAYESVILLE, NC; THREE GRANDCHILDREN: JONATHAN R. MOORE OF ATLANTA; KIM UNDERHILL PLUESS AND MELINDA. UNDERHILL OF DAYTON, OHIO. HER GREATGRAND DAUGHTERS ARE SELINA AND KIARA PLUESS. Visitation will be Tuesday 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger. Service will begin at 2:00pm Tuesday following the visitation at the funeral home in Erlanger. Burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger.
