Robert Rackett

Robert D. Rackett, 88, passed away on March 4, 2011 at home in Florence KY. Mr. Rackett was predeceased by his wife Marjorie Nevens Rackett in 1983. He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth (“Libby”) Peterson (Eric) of Bay Village OH and Sally Scott (Kevin) of St. Charles IL. He is also survived by his brother J. Curtis Rackett (Mary Jane) of Greenwich CT, his longtime friend Ann Shely of Florence KY and his granddaughters Kristen and Laura Peterson and Kayla and Kimberly Scott.

Mr. Rackett served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy, graduated from Lafayette College and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity there. He spent his entire professional career as an engineer and sales manager for Armstrong World Industries.

He was a loving and giving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather and a faithful friend to many. Mr. Rackett will be most remembered for his kindness, winsome personality and love of and commitment to his family.

Visitation will be at Linnemann Funeral Home, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington KY on Saturday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m. with memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Barneveld NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Suite 800, Washington DC 20004.
