George Rogers
George Henry Rogers, age 83, died December 27, 2012, at his residence in Florence, KY after courageously battling stage IV lung cancer for 3 1/2 years with a Joie de Vivre and a deep faith and love of family and community. He earned a Bachelors of Arts from UC College Conservatory of Music. He earned a Masters of Education from Xavier University. He was an Adjunct Associate Professor at Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati. George was associated with WLW, WKRC, and WCET in the Cincinnati area. George is a Korean War Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Rogers, his children Paul Joseph (Barb) Rogers, John Gerard (Julie) Rogers, George Christopher (Debora Benchoam) Rogers, Anne Marie (David) Weinhold, Mary Claire (Jeff) Smoot, Ellen Theresa (Scott) Redmond, Mark James (Shari) Rogers, and Robert Thomas (Inga) Rogers. He is the grandfather of 34 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. George was untimely predeceased by Melissa, Makenah, Zachary, Nicholas, and Alenah Rogers, and Anthony Blair. A memorial mass of thanksgiving will be held 10 a.m. Saturday December 29, at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 1150 Donaldson Rd, Erlanger, KY. His body was donated to the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine Body Donation Program. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Rogers Family Scholarship Fund at Roger Bacon High School, 4320 Vine St. Cincinnati., OH 45217 or St. Ursula Academy, 1339 E. McMillan St. Cincinnati, OH 45206 or St. Xavier High School, 600 W. North Bend Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio 45224.
