John D. Haines

Obituary
Condolences

John D. Haines, age 76, of Florence and a longtime resident of Edgewood, Kentucky, passed away peacefully, with his wife, Karen, by his side. He was born on October 19, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Robert Haines and Jeanette (née Knaar) Haines. John carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and family with him throughout his life.

In 1969, John was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the 101st Airborne Division.

John graduated from Sinclair Community College with a degree in Commercial Art, a reflection of both his creativity and his hands-on approach to life.

He had a lifelong passion for sports cars and was a proud member of the Ohio Valley Austin Healey Club. John loved spending time in the garage, always tinkering, fixing, or working on a new project.

Above all else, John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He treasured his family and especially loved being “Pawpaw,” a role that brought him endless joy and pride.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Haines (née Spegal); his son, Robert Austin (Kelsey) Haines; his cherished grandchildren, Avery and Levi Haines; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Haines, Laney Haines, William Haines, and Gerald Haines.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Wednesday, May 27, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Linnemann Funeral Homes, 30 Commonwealth Ave, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018, with funeral services immediately following.

After the service, John will be laid to rest at St. Stephen Cemetery, 1523 Alexandria Pike # A, Fort Thomas, KY 41075, where military honors will be presented in recognition of his faithful service to his country.
