Tributes
Arline Dixon Wolff of Edgewood, 87, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday April 14th. She was born on August 10, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio; the daughter of Ashton and Cecelia Baker Dixon, who were both New England natives.
Arline graduated from Lafayette High School and from the University of Kentucky in Lexington. At UK, she was the first recipient of a Special Education degree to teach the physically challenged. She became interested in this field while teaching a Sunday School class at Shriners’ Hospital. Her brief teaching career was at Condon School in Cincinnati.
Having been a synchronized swimmer with the Blue Marlins team at UK, Arline also loved teaching adult swim classes. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and the Westminster Fellowship. She met her husband, Ralph, when they both were serving as officers of the Pitkin Club at UK.
Arline was known for her ever-present smile. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family, especially watching her children and grandchildren in their various and numerous extra-curricular activities. Most of all, she loved being a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly sixty-six years, Ralph Wolff; a daughter, Cindy Volz (Jeff); sons, David Wolff (Robb Dorward) and Kevin Wolff (Tiffany); grandchildren, Jessica McMurtrey (Robert), Mark Volz (Ashley), Mariah Wolff, Cierra Volz, Mikayla Volz, and Addison Wolff; great-grandchildren, Ava McMurtrey, Luke McMurtrey, and Easton Volz; a sister, Marilyn Pfanstiel (Earl); a brother, Bruce Dixon (Mary); plus many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be 9 AM – 11 AM on Monday April 20th at Trinity Episcopal Church, 326 Madison Avenue in Covington, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 AM. A luncheon reception will follow the service. Interment prayers will be in the chapel at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erlanger, KY at 2:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for Shriners Children’s Hospital (110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508), the Cathedral Domain (P.O. Box 610, Lexington, KY 40588), or the music fund at Trinity Church (16 East 4th St, Covington, KY 41011).
