Elizabeth Jane Ehrman

Obituary
Condolences

To know Jane Ehrman was to know devotion: devotion to her family, her friends, and her faith. Elizabeth Jane Weidner Ehrman, age 79, died peacefully at her home in Park Hills, Kentucky on April 11, surrounded by what she treasured most: her husband and every one of her loving children and grandchildren.

Jane Ehrman’s Park Hills neighbors always knew when it was Sunday because cars overflowed from her driveway for the weekly gathering of her four children, three daughters-in-law, six grandchildren, and others drawn to this warm, lively tradition. Her super-sized dining table was a fitting symbol of her appreciation for every moment shared with her family.

Born Elizabeth Jane Weidner, “Jane” was the daughter of George and Betty (Collett) Weidner. A gifted student with a passion for reading, she earned full scholarships to high school and college. She graduated with a major in English from Villa Madonna College (now Thomas More University). It was at a freshman mixer at college that she met Bill Ehrman, her husband of 58 years.

Jane had brief careers at Delta Airlines and Weidner Kitchens, but her highest calling was that of mother and grandmother. In addition to her own four surviving children, she was a foster mother for over 50 infants for Catholic Social Services. She also gave many hours of service to St. Agnes and Covington Latin Schools. And she selflessly cared for her parents and for Bill’s parents in her home during their final days.

Beyond family, Jane kept close and loyal friendships that began in childhood and endured throughout her life. She also loved books and created an entire room in her home just for them. Not surprisingly, her favorite was A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, with its emphasis on familial and emotional devotion.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Peter. She is survived by her loving husband William Ehrman; her children Bill (Debbie), John (Amy), Michael (Dara) and Betty; her foster children Dustin and Desiree Zink; her grandchildren Thomas, Lauren, Rebecca, Rachael, Emily, Sarah; her siblings Barbara Hedges, Ginny (Michael) Sandfoss, Mary Ann Weidner, Tina Klare, and Chuck (Judy) Weidner; six nieces, six nephews, six grandnieces and ten grandnephews; and many lifelong friends.

It was Jane’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of prayer or to St. Agnes Church or the Sisters of Notre Dame.

Heaven has gained an amazing angel

This amazing woman was a blessing to know. She opened up her home to my brother and me as foster children. After our adoption, she kept in contact until her last day. She was heaven on Earth and anyone who knew her was blessed. I will miss her dearly. The the Ehrman family, my deepest condolences to you on your loss.
