William David “Dave” Tolle

William David (Dave) Tolle, 85, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026. Born July 19, 1940, to Edwin and Evelyn Tolle, Dave lived a life defined by service, dedication, and deep love for his family.

Dave married his high school sweetheart, Betty Brown, on June 18, 1959. Together they built a remarkable life for almost 68 years, one rooted in commitment to each other and their family. Their relationship was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1958-1964. Following his military career, he continued his lifelong commitment to helping others by serving as a Cincinnati Firefighter and Paramedic. He went on to make a lasting impact in his field by serving as the director of the Fire/Medic and Police Academy at Butler Tech D. Russel Lee Career Center, and teaching at the University of Cincinnati, helping to train and mentor future generations of first responders.

More than anything, Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a constant presence in the life of his family. Dave adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He supported them in their sports and other interests and taught them to enjoy the things he loved, like golfing and fishing. Most of all, he taught them through his example, to be good, responsible, caring people.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; his children, Anita (Mark) Lutz, Terri (Butch) Nemann; his grandchildren: Nikki (Rob) Schrand, Ryan Nemann, Maggie (Tyler) Mastin, and Justin Lutz; and his great-grandchildren: Lane Nemann, Abrianna Schrand, Charlotte Schrand, Weston Smith, and a fifth great-grandchild due in August.

Dave’s legacy lives on, not only in his family, but in the countless lives he saved and touched through his service, leadership, and quiet strength.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral service, 12:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Home, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005. He will be laid to rest privately at the convenience of his family.
