Robert Williams
WILLIAMS- Robert C. Williams “Chick” passed away Tuesday September 30th at the VA Medical Center Hospice Unit in Ft Thomas KY. He was a National Service Officer for 20 years, he played professional baseball from 1939-1940 in St Louis, Semi-pro baseball, buckeye league, Newport Steelers and Bavarian Brewing Teams. He also served as the Spring Training Manager for the Cincinnati Reds for 10 years. Robert was a WWII veteran who has received many rewards including a Purple Heart, Battle Star, Bronze Star, American Defense Service Ribbon, Service Stripe, Middle Eastern Campaign and a Good Conduct Medal. He is also a member the Elks, VFW, American Legion, Am Vets, and Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame. Survivors include his wife Ruth Williams of Florence KY, daughter Beth Ackerson of Florence KY, son Robert C. Schry of Edgewood KY, Grandchildren Nathan, Rob and Julie, great grandchildren Parker, Mitchell, Jacob, Josh and Maddie. Visitation will be held Friday October 3rd from 10am to 12pm with services to follow at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger. Mausoleum entombment will be held at Highland Cemetery in Ft Mitchell. Memorials may be made to the Cincinnati Association for the Blind 2045 Gilbert Ave Cincinnati OH 45202.
