Sally Ann Weiss

Obituary
Condolences

Sally Ann Weiss, age 90, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on January 11, 2026, in Union, Kentucky. She was born on October 10, 1935, in Akron, Ohio.

Sally was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose life was centered on family, learning, and connection. As an educator, she shared her love of knowledge with countless students as well as her scout troops, leaving a lasting impact through her curiosity, dedication, and care. Sally was a member of Christ Church Cathedral and with her husband Jim spent many years there supporting the church community through volunteer work. She also spent many years volunteering with Meals on Wheels bringing community and a good meal to those in need.

She treasured time spent with her family and friends, especially traveling together. While Cape Cod held a special place in her heart, she explored the world with Jim and cherished their adventures. Sally delighted in sharing her love of cooking and hosting gatherings, filling her home with laughter, conversation, and the people she treasured most. An avid reader, she was rarely without a book in hand, always asking her granddaughters what they were reading and found great joy in stories and lifelong learning.

Sally also enjoyed games, particularly bridge, and was known for her competitive spirit, affinity for rules, and sharp mind. Whether at the card table or playing games with her grandchildren, she brought warmth, energy, and enthusiasm to every moment.

Her life changed forever when at 14 she met James H. Weiss, her beloved husband and best friend of 67 years.  James, and and her sister, Barbara Jackson preceded her in death.

Sally is survived by her sister Betty Reed and her children: Jim H. Weiss Jr. (Amy), Jon Weiss (Tina), Teresa Hassara (Michael), Joseph Weiss, and Diane Werner (Tony); her cherished grandchildren: Joshua (Alé), Nick (Lu), Sarah (Nick), Ben (Katie), Allie (Will), Caroline, Hannah, Bailey (Isaac), Carly, Ellen (James), Anna (Hunter), Michael, Jack (Kendel), and Moses; and her six beautiful and loving great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy.

Sally will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence, generosity, competitive spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply.

The family will be forever grateful for the loving support provided to Sally by her caregivers at StoryPoint Union and the kindness and care given to her by her dear friend Mersija Behric who considered Sally a second mother.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Reading is Fundamental or Kids Need to Read.
