Obituary
Condolences

David E. Forwood, 80, passed away on January 7, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Elsworth and Bertha (Gentle) Forwood.

David proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic and wide range of interests. He was a professional bowler, an avid fisherman, and loved boating, spending many hours on the river. Later in life, he devoted himself fully to his work as a concrete finisher, a trade he approached with dedication and pride.

David was kind, generous, and selfless, with a reputation for helping anyone in need. Having lived a full and experienced life, he was a source of wisdom to those around him. He was also deeply committed to giving back, actively supporting the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Burlington, Kentucky Police and Fire Rescue.

He is survived by his brother, Howard (Sherrie) Forwood; his sister, Christine (Greg) Huyck; his children, Amy, Jennifer (Shannon), David, Ryan, Dan Mazzella, Melissa (Todd), Megan (Maher), and Cathy (Shane); as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel Combs; and his daughter, Dorothea Nacell.

A visitation will be held at Linnemann Funeral Homes, Burlington location, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s name to the Burlington, Kentucky Police and Fire Rescue.
