Thomas Cox, Sr. (“Tom”), 81, of Hebron, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Born on October 6, 1944, Tom was born to the late James W. Cox, Sr. and Ruth Cox. He met the love of his life, Joyce, when he was just 14 years old and she was 13, a bond that grew into a lifetime of love and marriage for almost 62 years.
Tom dedicated more than 50 years of his working life as a pipe fitter and welder with Miami Local 725, a career that reflected his unmatched skill, work ethic, and pride in craftsmanship. Known by his family as the most talented man they had ever met, Tom could fix anything. An avid restorer of antiques, he was an extraordinary craftsman, woodworker, artist, and machinist. Tom had a love of history and treasured time spent at his villa on Hilton Head Island.
He was preceded in death by parents, James and Ruth, and brothers, Richard and Fred Cox.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; children, Tammy Cox and Tom (Beth) Cox, Jr.; grandchildren: Cassie (Matt) Ernst, Kiley (Dane) Everett, Madison Cox, Abby Vonlintel and Colton Cox; great-grandchildren, Milo Ernst and Margot Ernst; siblings, James Cox, Jr. and Barbara (Wayne) Sisk; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM until the time of funeral service at 6:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Home, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005. Tom will be laid to rest in Burlington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Old Union Cemetery PO Box 124, Perryville, KY, 40468.
