Elias George Mabjish

Obituary
Condolences

Elias George Mabjish, 74, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY.

Born in Nazareth, Elias was the son of the late George and Lily Mabjish. He came to the United States in 1974, following in the footsteps of his uncle and brothers, determined to build a life rooted in education, faith, and family. Though he faced challenges early on—including arriving with little English—Elias persevered, graduating from St. Joseph Seminary and High School, earning his degree from Xavier University, and later completing both a Master’s and Doctorate from Walden University.

Elias worked hard to establish himself, starting in property maintenance before becoming a Certified Public Accountant. He served as a professor of Accounting at the University of Cincinnati and also hosted UC’s Arabic radio program, proudly sharing his culture and voice with the community.

Elias lived by his motto, “let’s live in the now.” After surviving a major heart attack in 1988, he embraced life with generosity, a love for travel, and a passion for culture. He especially enjoyed visiting Paris, Dubai, and historical cities rich in art and architecture. Known for his sharp style, Elias favored European fashion and delighted in good food—whether a fine steak, seafood, or his beloved pineapple Fanta. Above all, he found joy in his children and grandchildren, supporting them with unwavering love and generosity.

He was a faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua Maronite Catholic Church in Cincinnati, where his heritage and faith remained central throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Nael George Mabjish and Jules Mabjish.

Elias is survived by his loving companion, Lana Wills; his children, Ameer (Elizabeth) Mabjish, Amira (Maxx Capps) Mabjish, Samir Mabjish, and Samira Mabjish; his sisters, Maha “Mimi” (Enis) Shaheen and Manal (Rumsey) Danial; and his cherished grandchildren, Aliyah, Nova, Evander, Amaya, and Skylar Grouse.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, KY. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Maronite Catholic Church in Cincinnati, OH.
