Frank DeWitt Serra, Sr.

Obituary
Condolences

Frank DeWitt Serra, Sr., of Elsmere, KY, passed away on August 24, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on November 24, 1934, in Covington, KY, to the late Charles “Tony” Serra and Mary (Hamm).

Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Serra; his parents; his son, Robert Serra; and 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.

He is survived by his children, Michael Serra (Theresa), Frank Serra Jr. (Jonine), and Shannon Serra. Frank was blessed with a big, beautiful family—7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren—who were the pride and joy of his life.

Frank was the kind of man who never sat still. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors more than anything. If there was something to do, he was “go, go, go” and always on the move. He gave so much of his time coaching Little League baseball and VFW teams, passing along his love of the game and his energy to countless kids. At home, he could often be found with country music playing, especially the voices of Hank Williams Sr. and Johnny Cash.

To know Frank was to know a man full of life, laughter, and grit. They don’t make them like him anymore. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be cherished by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, KY. A service to celebrate his life will follow on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with burial immediately after at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati in Frank’s honor.

Mike, Frank and Family,
Your loss is another loss for the Elsmere Community, where we grew up, knew we were watched over and loved by all families and neighbors. Our little Town was small but Mighty! We remained safe and resilient because of adults like my Father and yours, and all the ones who protected us and our neighborhood. Please know that we grieve with you in your time of sorrow and loss of your Father. Our sincere Condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to you and your entire Family.
