Sharon Wagner

Obituary
Condolences

Sharon Lynne Wagner, age 74, of Villa Hills, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on January 31, 1951, Sharon was the beloved daughter of the late James Earl and Doloris Betty Kemper (née Moning). She grew up with a love of learning and went on to study at Edgecliff College, the University of Cincinnati, and Thomas More University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biology.

Sharon’s life was filled with many passions. She loved to cook and was known for her cherished Christmas fruitcakes and her comfort food favorites like meatloaf and roasts. A lifelong collector of cookbooks, she found joy in both new recipes and old traditions. She also had an eye for style, delighting in shopping for clothing, shoes, jewelry, and purses—always on the lookout for a great sale.

Travel was another joy in Sharon’s life. She loved trips to the beach, especially Daytona Beach – with friends and family, and exploring historic places such as Williamsburg, Jamestown, and My Old Kentucky Home. She also treasured her travels to Maine and Niagara Falls, loved scenic roadtrips to anywhere, and loved lighthouses.. At home, Sharon enjoyed sewing and cross-stitching, creating handmade pieces that reflected her care and creativity. She was also a long time fan of Barry Manillow – never missing a show when he would come to town.

Sharon devoted herself to her family and her work. After welcoming her daughter, Stephanie, she worked at McAlpin’s Department Store, before later working in the chancery for the Diocese, a role she held with pride and dedication – and she never missed a church festival.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Steve Wagner, and her daughter, Stephanie Wagner, who will always cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, her Grandma Anna Moning, her Grandma Rosemary Kemper (née Wedding), and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell.

In honor of Sharon’s life, memorial donations may be made to The Diocese of Covington, the SPCA, or the American Cancer Society.
