Condolences

Lawrence “Ray” R. Young Jr. age 85, of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Ray worked as a truck driver for 30 years, logging countless miles and building a lifetime of stories from the road. He also drove the church bus on many trips to Florida and loved taking his grandchildren everywhere, making memories they will always treasure. A devoted fisherman and a loyal UK basketball fan, Ray’s greatest joy was found in the love of his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jo Ann Young; daughters Tami Utz and Gina Owens (John); grandchildren Kyle Andrew Walton (Sarah), Ethan Ray Walton, Olivia Marie Miller (Andrew), and Jacob Monroe Owens (Crystal Cress); and great-granddaughters Abigail Grace Walton and Piper Jane Miller. Ray is also survived by his siblings Shirley Coyle, Robert Young (Nancy), and Deborah Rhodus (Steve), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Burlington Baptist Church on Saturday, August 23 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burlington Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. Online condolences can be left at www.LinnemannFuneralHomes.com
