Thomas S. Hodge
June 16, 1943 – June 4, 2025
Thomas S. Hodge, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, just shy of his 82nd birthday. Born in Covington, Kentucky, to the late Cecil and Mildred (née Owen) Hodge, Tom lived a disciplined life of integrity driven by love, loyalty, and profound strength.
He is survived by the love of his life, Judy (née Lambert) Hodge, his wife of 59½ years. Their story began in the fourth grade, when Tom asked her out while she was sitting on the monkey bars—a moment that sparked a lifelong bond built on patience, laughter, love, and unwavering partnership. Together, they raised three children: Mary, Jenny, and Tommy (Moksha) Hodge. Tom was a proud and devoted grandfather to Ellen and Judy Jean, and a joyful great-grandfather to Adaley, Kaylee, and Aria. He also leaves behind his sister, Pamela Barton (Gary), and countless extended family members and friends whose lives he touched.
Tom graduated from the University of Kentucky (the second great love of his life), where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, and later earned a master’s degree in education from Xavier University. He had a deep respect for education, leading him to teach at and eventually rise to the position of Assistant Principal at Walnut Hills High School, followed by a career in the financial industry. What mattered most to Tom was providing for his family and showing up for those he loved. Tom was the rock of his family—a steady, reliable presence who could always be counted on.
He will be remembered for his warm heart and steady guidance. He was a man of deep character who didn’t need to speak loudly to leave a lasting impression. Tom was a lover of life, the outdoors, his family and his loyal canine companions, Snoopy, Gracie Lou and Bindi Lou who joyful greeted Tom on the other side. If you were lucky enough to meet Tom, you likely walked away feeling seen, heard, and respected.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tom’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital—an organization close to his heart. Services will be held on Wednesday June 11th from 12 to 2 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
