Jodi Lee Flannery

Obituary
Condolences

Jodi Lee Flannery, 53, of Hebron, KY, passed away on May 17, 2025, and went to meet Jesus — no doubt riding her beloved horse, Red.

Born November 10, 1971, in Ft. Thomas, KY, Jodi was a graduate of Conner High School (Class of 1989) and earned her bachelor’s degree in Mental Health and Human Services from Northern Kentucky University. Her life was a beautiful mix of compassion, strength, and purpose. She lived fully despite enduring significant medical challenges throughout her life.

Jodi was a proud animal nutritionist and veterinary assistant, where her passion for animals and helping others truly came to life. She especially adored Tennessee Walking Horses, with Red and George holding special places in her heart. From assisting in surgeries as a vet tech, to missionary trips to Mexico and the Apache Reservation, Jodi never let obstacles hold her back. Her strength and perseverance inspired all who knew her.

She was baptized at Erlanger Baptist church and in the last several years became an active member of Seven Hills Church where she created lasting and meaningful friendships. Whether she was caring for teenagers through her work at Brighton Center, singing in a college quartet with the Baptist Student Union, or digging in her garden with her green thumb, Jodi lived to serve others. She was loyal, generous, fiercely independent, and had a knack for turning strangers into friends. She loved canning, traveling (especially her unforgettable trip to Ireland and the Cliffs of Moher), and had a weakness for shoes. Her furry companions, Coda and Idgy, were never far from her side.

Jodi was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Laura Flannery; maternal grandparents, James and Vera Ford; her cousin, Sarah Noonchester; and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her loving parents, John “Butch” and Mary Ellen Flannery; her brother Eric and family, Jenn, Callum and Reid.; and dear friends Andrea Nieman and Kimberly Watkins. She also leaves behind many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives were deeply touched by her.

A celebration of Jodi’s life will be held soon, with service times to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Skydog Sanctuary Inc. 23823 Malibu Road, Suite 50 Box 357, Malibu CA 90265 or Apache Youth Ministries PO Box 1825 Lakeside, AZ 85929.

Jodi Lee Flannery

Jodi was a spirit to be reckoned with!!!! She spoke her mind but with her soft voice it was always in a manner that was never condescending.

We will miss our movie nights and our dogs Niya and Torch will miss their favorite dog sitter and their overnights with Jodi. She was the BEST!!!

Jodi, You left so many sad hearts here when you left.

I know you are sitting at the right hand of our Lord watching over us now.

You can rest peacefully sweet lady. Andrea is taking care of George!

Memory

I met Jodi through our boxer rescue at Pet Smart. She was always kind, loving and gave great hugs. She was always there for us in good and bad with our fur babies, even coming in her day off when we had to send our oldest boxer to the rainbow bridge. She was there to cry with us and support us. She was full of knowledge. Over the years she became a very good friend. Jodi you will be deeply missed. I love you dearly my friend. I am sure you had a lot of fur babies waiting to see you.
