Derreck Jude Rentschler

Obituary
Condolences

Derreck Jude Rentschler, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2025, with his family by his side.  He was the son of the late Robert and Margaret (née Dornbusch) Rentschler.

Derreck was a loving husband, proud father, devoted brother, and loyal friend. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Rachel Rentschler (née Budde); his son, Jeffrey Rentschler; his daughter, Amanda Rentschler-Teachey (Lincoln); his brothers, Robert Rentschler, Troy Rentschler, and Rodney Rentschler (Becky); and his sisters, Melissa Mullen (Mike) and Caroline Davis (Jim).

Derreck lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and quiet strength. He found joy in the simple things: a good slice of chocolate cake, a sunset, the crackle of a campfire shared with loved ones, and his newest passion, reading. He had a deep passion for military history, especially stories from World War II—and could talk for hours about the heroes of the past. Music was a constant comfort, and he could often be found listening to Johnny Cash and Elvis.

He was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved, whether on a family camping trip, sharing stories at the dinner table, or simply sitting outside, watching the sky change colors as he played with his dog. His love for life, his sense of humor, and his gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will take place Saturday May 17th from 11:00am-1:00pm, followed by a memorial service at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in honor of Derreck’s life and his courageous spirit.

I didn’t want to come back

Dr Mary Neal died while kayaking but was revived 30 minutes later. Her experience of the overwhelming love and joy of Heaven was such that she said that although her life on earth was wonderful she really wanted to stay with God. I’m sorry for our loss, especially Rachael Amanda and Jeff, but I’m certain Derreck is encircled in love.

The best way to go –

While your loss is overwhelming I take solace knowing he spent his last couple days surrounded by the only thing that matters – his family What greater gift could be given than to have the loved of his life around him, sorting through memories, in the home where he raised his children While I detest his going; I envy the way he went. Love you Derreck, Rachel, Jeff, Amanda and Lincoln. (Not so much that nasty dog lol) Say hi to mom, dad, grandma and grandpa for me
Caroline

So Sorry for your loss of Derrick

Rachel, Jeffery, and Amanda,
I’m so very for your loss of Derrick.
I’ve always said Derrick was a good guy, who was laid back and almost always laughing. I have not seen him in years, but my memories of him remain steadfast.
Fly high Derrick, and god bless your family.

Cindy

So sorry for your loss

My hope for your family is that you may find comfort in memories, and achieve peace by taking all the time you need to grieve with each other. – Levi Teachey
