Charlotte F. Wiesmann

Obituary
Condolences

Charlotte F. Wiesmann (née Short), 87, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Boonespring Nursing and Rehab in Union, KY. She was surrounded by her loving family, holding the hands of her devoted husband of 68 years, Donald, and her younger brother, Bill. Charlotte deeply loved her husband and best friend, “Don.” He stood by her side for nearly 10 years, offering love and support as Charlotte battled the debilitating illness of dementia. Finding comfort in prayer, Don would often lead Charlotte in the “Our Father.” Their devotion to one another remained unwavering throughout their blessed life together.

Charlotte is also survived by her son Donald R. (Melissa) Wiesmann, daughter Sandra (Butch) Finke, daughter Teresa (Timothy) Hollenkamp, son Christopher (Kim) Wiesmann; sister Joan Luhrsen; brother William “Bill” (Margie) Short; sisters Bonnie Corns and Sharon (James) Day. She was the proud grandmother of 11: Melissa, Lauren, Frank, Heather, Katie, Danny, Alex, Corrine, Amy, Michelle, and Nick; and great-grandmother of 15.

Charlotte worked for the IRS for 25 years, taking great pride in her diligent work and accomplishments. She retired as a Section Chief in 1998 and remained close friends with many former colleagues until her passing.

A woman of deep faith, Charlotte was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Burlington, KY. She lovingly crocheted afghans for ill parishioners until she could no longer manage the complex stitches she once produced so easily. Charlotte continued receiving communion until the final days of her life.

Charlotte was a dedicated, steadfast, and devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Charlotte was extremely generous to those she loved and to those in need. Nearly every coat and jacket she wore was adorned with an angel pin. A skilled artist and craftsperson, she often expressed her love through elaborate and beautifully detailed scrapbooks, paintings, and keepsakes. She rarely missed a grandchild’s sporting event or school function, and hosting tea parties and sleepovers with her grandchildren was a cherished tradition. Charlotte was an infectious giggler and the world’s best dumpling maker. She valued her friendships deeply, often keeping in touch with friends from as far back as high school. Her life was filled with precious memories of shared events and holidays. Charlotte will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with a funeral Mass to follow at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Burlington, KY. A luncheon reception will take place following the Mass, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Linnemann Event Center, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY. Burial of cremains will follow at River View Cemetery in Aurora, IN, for those who wish to attend.

Charlotte greatly enjoyed flowers; sending an arrangement would be a lovely way to honor her memory. Alternatively, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 5876 Veterans Way, Burlington, KY 41005. Online condolences can be shared at www.linnemannfuneralhomes.com.

Condolences

Charlotte was an absolute joy to be around. We had such fun at Prayer Needles and our chats before Mass when we happen to attend Mass at the same time that Don would always tease us about being too loud. Charlotte you will be missed.
