Ronald J. Rice

Ronald Joe Rice, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on April 20, 2025.

A skilled bricklayer by trade, Ron took pride in his work and brought dedication and craftsmanship to everything he built. Outside of work, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, hiking scenic trails, and tending to his cherished tomato garden.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ron shared that passion with younger generations, coaching kids’ baseball teams and cheering from the sidelines at his grandson’s soccer games with Boone County Soccer. He was also known for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor, always ready with a clever remark.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Ginger Rice; daughter Debbie Thaman; son David (Tracey) Rice; and grandchildren Brett, Elizabeth, and Raeann Thaman and Brent, Nathan, and Matthew Rice. He was a proud great-grandfather to Landon Rice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Vivian Rice, and brothers Gary (Pat) Rice and Billy Rice.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 10am to 12pm at Linnemann Funeral Homes, Burlington. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 12pm.
