Bill Scheben Jr.

Obituary
Condolences

William J. Scheben Jr. “Bill”, 88, passed away Thursday April 10, 2025 at St Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, KY. Bill worked as a Banker with Community Bank for over 30 years and was a member of St Henry Parish.

Bill was an all-state basketball player in high school and a decorated golfer. He continued his golf career at the University of Cincinnati and then transferred to the University of Kentucky where he finished his career and earned his “K” Letter and met the love of his life, Betsy. They were married for 61 years and he is most happy that he has joined her in Heaven. Bill was an avid golfer until his health stopped him from being able to play. One of his favorite activities was collecting and playing with the old hickory shafted golf clubs and played in several national tournaments with his “old hickories”.

After college Bill spent four years on active duty with the United States Navy and several more years as a reservist. He reached the level of Lt. Commander. After settling in back home he become active in the community, sitting on many Boards, including St Elizabeth Medical Center Foundation, The Northern Kentucky Community Foundation and Easter Seals State Board. His 40 plus years with Easter Seals, later known as Cardinal Hill, led he and Betsy to establish the Bill and Betsy Scheben Care Center.

After he wrapped up his banking days he concentrated on other endeavors, including Security Self-Storage, The Golf Ranch, Hickory Sticks Golf Course and many residential developments. His pride and joy in real estate was Triple Crown Country Club and the residential community surrounding the course. Bill, along with his four partners founded and designed the course and streets known today as “Triple Crown”. You could often see Bill driving one of his older Mustangs around Triple Crown and his home city of Crestview Hills.

Preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Betsy” Scheben, parents William J. Scheben, Iceline (nee Antrobus) and step-mother Wilma Conner Scheben. Survivors include his son Lee (Courtney) Scheben, son Scott (Kim) Scheben, step-brother Mickey (Linda) Conner, brother in-law Dulaney (Jane) O’Roark Jr. and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are grandchildren Sydney (Sean) Cooney, Summer (Logan) Dortch, Kassidy Scheben, Carter Scheben and great grandson Crew Cooney. Visitation will be held Wednesday April 16, 2025 from 10am to 12:30pm with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St Henry Church 3813 Dixie Hwy, Elsmere, KY 41018. Your dad…

Scott, what a beautiful tribute to your dad. I’ll always remember him driving the streets of Crestview Hills in one of his Mustangs. It was an honor to know him, and your family. Donna Anthe.
