Tributes
Wanda Lou Evans, beloved sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed from this life into eternal peace at the age of 84 on April 9th, 2025. Born in the heart of Strunk, Kentucky, to the late Paul Stephens and Evelyn Stephens (née Slavey), Wanda carried with her a legacy of kindness, resilience, and deep devotion to family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carlis Evans; her cherished daughter, Melanie Evans; her great-grandson, Parker Unger; and her dear siblings, L.B. Stephens, Dale “Oakley” Stephens, Ann Lindon, and Kathy Wilson. Though their absence was deeply felt, Wanda continued to live a life rich in love and connection.
Wanda leaves behind her daughters- Lisa Evans Lane (John) and Misty Madison (Jason Finger). Her grandchildren Rachel Unger (Brian), Jason Coghill, Miranda Guiden, Brandy Lane, Sean Lane (Sarah), and Justin Lane (Mirriah), and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved sisters Ruth Maxwell (belated Lloyd “Red”), Judy Tapley (Jim), Jean Smith (Vic), and Brother-in-law Ray Wilson, as well as countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her warmth and generous spirit.
To Wanda, family was everything. She found true joy in gathering with those she loved—especially during family reunions, where her laughter and the scent of home-cooked meals filled the air. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, and no holiday was complete without her famous pumpkin pie, a sweet symbol of her love and tradition that brought smiles to all.
Wanda’s presence was a gift—steady, selfless, and full of grace. Her love will continue to echo in the lives of all who knew her.
A visitation will be on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Burlington, Kentucky with service following at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Wanda by sending memorials to St Jude Hospital or Operation Smiles.
