Leon George Kruep

Obituary
Condolences

Leon Kruep, 92, of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025.

Leon proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, dedicating two years of his life to military service. Following his time in the service, Leon began a long and fulfilling career as a postal inspector, where he worked for 30 years.

A devoted fan of the University of Louisville, Leon enjoyed watching baseball and football. He took great pride in maintaining his yard, often spending hours ensuring his lawn was perfectly cared for. Above all, Leon cherished time spent with his family, who were the most important part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Marie (nee Goldsmith), his sons Gregory, Richard, and daughter Sandra.

Leon is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Carol Kruep (nee McCain); his children, Michael Kruep, Cyndi (Joel) Voyles, and Michelle Kruep; his grandchildren, Derek (Annie) Charles, Kimberly (AJ) Robertson, Andrew (Shannon) Weigel, Alex Weigel, and Sydney Senger (Jackson Walter), his great-grandchildren, Brady Charles, Brooklyn Charles, Carson Robertson, and Tenley Robertson, and his brother Bob Kruep (Judy).

A man of quiet strength and unwavering loyalty, Leon was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Arthritis Foundation to benefit research on Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis.

,

A life well lived

Leon was a great part of what made Louisville the finest domicile to serve at in the nation. It was a learning experience and a pleasure to work with him. Heaven has gained a very talented Clog Dancer. Rest in Peace, Leon.

Leon was a good friend

Sorry to hear that Leon has passed away. I worked with Leon for several years in Louisville where we were both Postal Inspectors. He was a good friend and an all around good man.
