Elizabeth “Betsy” Scheben

Obituary
Condolences

Elizabeth “Betsy” Scheben (nee O’Roark), 84, of Crestview Hills, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY.

Betsy was born to the late Col. Dulaney and Marie O’Roark and was a loving wife of 61 years to her husband, Bill Scheben.

Betsy was graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she was an art major and a dedicated member of the Chi Omega Sorority. A devoted homemaker, Betsy was a constant presence in her children’s lives and became known as the “school mom” to many. She served as PTA President at Caywood Elementary School, where her caring nature left a lasting impact. Her dedication to family extended beyond the home; Betsy was deeply involved in her community and touched many lives through her volunteer work. She served on the Junior Board, was an active member of the Easter Seals, and contributed to the Crestview Hills Park Board and the St. Elizabeth Hospice Edgewood fundraising board. Betsy and her husband, Bill were also integral to the Bill and Betsy Scheben Care Center.

Betsy’s love for her family and friends was matched by her passion for the arts and the outdoors. She found joy in traveling, particularly to Siesta Key. Betsy had a talent for baking, sewing, and spent many hours painting landscapes, birds and her grandchildren playing on the beach. She cherished spending time with her friends at lunch and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Col. Dulaney and Marie O’Roark; and sister, Dr. Anne O’Roark.

Betsy is survived by her loving husband, Bill Scheben; sons, Lee (Courtney) Scheben and Scott (Kim) Scheben; grandchildren: Sydney (Sean) Cooney, Summer (Logan) Dortch, Kassidy Scheben and Carter Scheben; great-grandson, Crew Cooney; brother, BG Dulaney (Jane) O’Roark, Jr.; brother-in-law, Mickey (Linda) Conner; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 12:00 PM, at St. Henry Catholic Church, 3813 Dixie Hwy, Elsmere, KY 41018. Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY.
