Born on March 21, 1926, in Covington, KY, Marcella lived a full life among family and friends.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Anthony Schwartz; her parents, William and Martina Brake; and her siblings, Esther Lageman, Angela Wilmhoff, William Brake, and Richard Brake.

She is survived by her sister Lucille Cummings and brother Joe Brake; daughters, Janet Fulton (Morgan), Judy Pieper (Ken), and Joanne Flanagan (Tim); her grandchildren, Alex Fulton (Ashley), David Fulton, Tony Zerhusen (Erin), Matt Zerhusen (Desiree), Maria Rao (Brian), John Pieper, Joe Pieper (Courtney), Tom Flanagan (Maraya), Molly Wheeler (Dallas), and Maggie Tobey (Sean); and her great-grandchildren, Matilda, Cecilia, and Jaxon Zerhusen, Scarlett and Violet Rao, Joella and Tobias Flanagan, Anne, Jack, and Dorothy Wheeler, and Emerson Fulton.

\Marcella was an active member of the Boone County Homemakers, and Primetime Seniors. She loved wood carving, crafts, ceramics, playing cards, and golf. During the winter months, she was a “snowbird” at Venetian Park, in Sarasota, FL, where she enjoyed playing bingo and organizing group shows with fellow residents. Marcella’s talents in cooking, sewing, and gardening were shared with her family and friends.  She won many ribbons for her entries in the Boone County Fair, and worked for bridal and tuxedo shops altering and designing formal wear.  She designed and sewed prom, wedding, and bridal party dresses for her daughters and granddaughters, and made sure each of them knew how to sew.  She also taught them to cook, bake, and make homemade goetta, and there was never a food she did not try or like.  Marcella also enjoyed camping and assisted in 4H and Girl Scouts when her girls were young.
