Anthony Velazquez, age 42, of Union, Kentucky, sadly passed away on October 14, 2024. A devoted husband, father, son, and friend, Anthony was known for his infectious enthusiasm and always brought a smile to those around him.

Born with a love for baseball, Anthony’s passion for the game extended far beyond the diamond. He found joy in coaching young athletes, nurturing their skills and fostering their love for the sport—often coaching children who weren’t even his own. His playful spirit and genuine care made him a beloved figure among the kids he coached. He loved supporting his own children in all their sports; wrestling,  football,  baseball, dance team, and soccer. He was their biggest fan.

An avid fan of the Los Angeles Angels and the Las Vegas Raiders, Anthony enjoyed sharing his love of sports with friends and family.

He also loved camping and boating with family and friends at Lake Cumberland and those memories will be cherished for years to come.

As a proud United States Marine Sergeant, Anthony served with honor in the 24th MEU Task Force, he also served in Okinawa with 7th communication battalion and Camp Lejeune and did one tour in Iraq, and was a motor T mechanic. He is a proud combat veteran. Following his active duty service, he spent three years in the National Guard. His commitment to service and his country reflected his strong character and sense of duty.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Nicole Velazquez, his children; AJ, Ashton, Max, and Maverick, his parents, Ernesto and Charity Velazquez, his siblings; Ernesto Velazquez and Vanessa (Casey) Rodriguez.

Above all, Anthony was cherished by his family, who loved him with all their hearts. His legacy of kindness, humor, and passion will forever resonate in their lives. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a strong man with a soft heart and was a support system for his family, he was their foundation.

A visitation for Anthony will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Burlington, KY (1940 Burlington Pike) from 4pm-7pm, with a service to immediately follow at 7pm.

Always Faithful

Condolences to your family, friends, and the people that loved you. Always Faithful…Semper Fidelis

Thinking of you and wishing you strength and comfort.

He was definitely one of the best people to be around. I was lucky enough to work alongside him at DHLE for 9 years. He always found a way to make people laugh and make the rough situations better. Out of the many great memories I have of him, my favorites are when it was his last night of 3rd shift, he was celebrating by throwing whip cream at my and others as a farewell. Or how he always joked and brought his team together to stand up and stare every single time I walked by. His absence is greatly felt, and he will never be forgotten.

Sending thoughts and prayers

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Velazquez’s as they nagivate through this difficult time. – DHL CVG HUB Security Team.

Sending prayers

Anthony was the first person I met at DHL when I went in for my first interview. He was actually working security desk at the time and he greeted me and inquired about the position I was interviewing for. We talked for a few minutes and he mentioned to me he had applied for a similar role and I wished him well on his upcoming interview and I had a feeling he was going to get the job. It was cool seeing him a couple weeks later on the same DHL work floor as me. Sending prayers to all of his friends, family and co workers.

Gone Too Soon

Velazquez was a light that can never be replaced. Though I only ever knew him as a coworker, I still would consider him a friend. Someone that you can look up to, to mentor you, to inspire you. I pray that whatever darkness overtook him is now extinguished and he finds peace in the hereafter; those of us still here will keep him alive in our thoughts and cherished memories forever. The impact of his life and service will never be forgotten.

Forever Cherished & Missed

Anthony, I hope your pain and suffering have ended and that you are truly at peace. This World will never be the same without you. My heartfelt condolences go out to Nicole and the boys. I pray there is comfort found knowing how big of a difference he made by being the most amazing father, friend, and coworker. I will always remember his infectious enthusiasm and positivity.

Fair winds and following seas.

You’re going to be missed, brother.

Forever in mind

I didn’t work with Anthony long on express but I knew him as the guy across the hall. During my time in exports his billing team could be heard on the other side of the walls due to his humor and infectious laugh. I hope his family well and will keep him and them in mind !
