David G. Wilson, 90, of Florence, KY, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY.

Born on August 7, 1934, David dedicated 40 years of his career as a mechanical engineer at Chiquita. He was also a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving as an active agent during the era of the Berlin Wall.

David was passionate about the outdoors, finding joy in fly fishing, gardening, and camping, particularly in the scenic Black Hills National Forest of South Dakota. His love for nature was matched by his intellectual curiosity; he was deeply interested in archaeology, history, science, philosophy, and biblical studies.

A longtime member of Immanuel Methodist Church, David was committed to serving his community. He volunteered at Fair Haven Rescue Mission in Covington and at the Children’s Home, offering help and compassion to those in need. His humanitarian spirit also led him on a mission trip to Ghana, where he made a meaningful impact.

David is remembered for his kindness, adventurous spirit, and dedication to both his profession and community. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Davida Wilson.

David is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Ann Wilson (nee: Smothers); children: Julie Herrera (Danny), Steven Wilson and Michael Wilson; grandchildren, Brandon and Nicolas Herrera; niece, Patty Burchett; nephews, Mike Julson and Dennis Julson; cousin, Francena Sell; as well as many other family members.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 12:00 PM until the time of memorial service at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, KY 41017.
