Rosie Badgett – Fellow Space: 1999 Fan & Dear Friend

I first met Rosie many, many years ago at the first Space: 1999 convention I ever went to. We shared a love of the British Sci-Fi TV show with our fellow fans/convention attendees, and it was my privilege to become friends over the years with Rosie. A few years ago, she even facilitated my phone interview with the lovely actress Barbara Bain from Space: 1999 and Mission; Impossible. It was one of the highlights of my writing career, and I shall be forever grateful to Rosie. She was a wonderful person who will be very much missed.

Rosie Badgett

Thinking of all the wonderful times we shared & your genuine spirit like no other. We never expect a loss so suddenly & it’s so hard to remember that we are all on borrowed time.

Miss you & love always,
Frannie

My Cousin, My Movie Partner and My Friend

Rosie was a rediscovered treasure after her return from California. We had grown up as kids (cousins). There was Aunt Martha and then Aunt Mary, my mom. There were three sisters then, and now only Delores. Lost touch in adulthood till we reconnected on her return in retirement to Northern Kentucky. We have since melded an old family into a new one together with dinners, play movies and lots of fun. Rosie was great fun, and she will be missed.

I know she is still with us in many ways and will always be in our memories. God Bless and keep Rosie till we see her again. Cousin Tom

Forever in my heart

Save journey dear Rosie. Thank you for everything you did for so many of us. I am blessed to have known you.

My condolences

London. 1982. Costume call at a convention. A woman wore Helena Russell’s uniform and I spoke to her afterwards, as Helena was my favourite character. Of course it was Rosie and she helped me join fan clubs in the USA. She was there and so welcoming on my first trip to the States. Over the years we’ve met up and shared our mutual love of Space: 1999, cats, the work of Barbara Bain. She should be here this weekend. A couple of times yesterday I saw someone and for a moment thought it was her…
She’s in our hearts as she will remain in the hearts of every life she’s touched. Safe travels Rosie.

SEPTEMBER 13th BREAKAWAY TO A NEW LIFE !

SPACE : 1999 British 1970’s TV show brought so many people worldwide together that never would have met otherwise. So many adventures kept going decades after production stopped. It gave many of us a whole new chosen special family with many new adventures to experience and many memories. Rosie was so vital during the beginning years. It was her spirit of adventure and the can do no matter what attitude for any task that continued on for decades. This also carried on to our personal lives and families.I keep thinking what would Rosie want us to do now? Follow her spirit of giving and loving each other until we can all meet again.Kathy & John Von Kamp

Thank you dear Rosie

I knew Rosie since 1979 via our deep love for SPACE:1999 and eventually cats. She was a pivotal force not only for SPACE:1999 fans and stars she did it without limits and hesitation. I join hundreds of her friends in treasuring what she gave to all of us.

Dear Dee and Harris,
I got to know Rosie over the past several years and came to love her as a dear friend.
I will always remember her vibrant personality and fun-loving personality.
I will miss her very much.

To Everything That Was

I have known Rosie through Space 1999 fandom for 40 years. More recently we met up many times and became good friends, despite being on opposite sides of “the pond”. She was a warm, caring, generous, all round incredible person who touched the lives of so many. I miss her so much already.
To everything that was. To everything that might have been. Rest in peace, Rosie.

Rosie Badgett

Rosie was a good friend. She made living in my condo, a home. Come down for cup of tea. We enjoyed going to movies, eating out, singing, and she open her family and friends home to me. She was fun to be around. Uplifting and positive. Never a harsh word. Always helping. I will miss my friend but my faith gives me strength we will meet again. Thanks for your friendship. RIP and look for me over the horizon one glorious day. Love Lillie Earls

Rosie will be missed by many

Rosie was an integral figure in the history of Space: 1999 fandom. She served as President of the International Space: 1999 Alliance for a number of years and Chaired several important Space: 1999 conventions, including ‘Breakaway’ in September 1999, held in Los Angeles. These events raised thousands of dollars for charity. She was also a well-regarded fan fiction author, artist, and mentor to many individuals in the U.S. and around the world. The importance of her contributions to fandom cannot be understated. Personally, I remember her kindness in inviting me to spend time at her then-home in Covington, Kentucky, where I also met her sister Mary Lou and Mother – all wonderful, loving women. Her contributions have been immeasurable – she will be missed. Hers was a life well-lived. May she rest in peace.

Rosie’s Loss Leaves a Huge Hole in Many Hearts

We knew each other for decades, brought together initially by our fascination for the TV series “Beauty and the Beast” but finding much in common to bind us as friends. Rosie’s advice was always valuable, her solutions to problems always diplomatic, her helping hand always extended, and with her low-key way of speaking she made a lasting impact on so many people. She will be deeply missed.
