Andrew James Gawura
Andrew “Andy” James Gawura passed away on April 22, 2024. Andy was born on October 14, 1956 to Daniel and Virgina Gawura. Andy was a retired proud patriot of the Army, having served for 22 years with honor and dedication. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career as he devoted 46 joyful years to his beloved wife, Gudrun.
Andy is preceded in death by his grandfather, Daniel Gawura.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gudrun Gawura, his daughters; Louann (Aaron) Gillum, and Patricia (Mike Bethel) Black, grandchildren; Nico and Lucius Gillum, his siblings; Susan Barrett, Wendy Thomas, Daniel R. Gawura, Kimberly Story, John Gawura, and Michael Gawura, and many nieces and nephews.
Andy was known for his infectious sense of humor and his ability to find laughter in any situation. He approached life with a light-heartedness that endeared him to all who knew him. His warm smile and welcoming nature meant that he never knew a stranger; everyone was a friend in Andy’s eyes.
In addition to his jovial spirit, Andy was a passionate woodworker, finding solace and joy in crafting beautiful creations from timber. His craftsmanship was a reflection of his meticulous attention to detail and his creative flair.
One of Andy’s greatest gifts was his ability to offer fatherly advice with kindness and understanding. His words were a source of comfort and wisdom to many, and his guidance will be dearly missed.
Andy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and friendship. He touched the lives of so many and will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return.
A visitation for Andy will be held at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger, KY on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 5-7PM. A visitation will also be held from 9:00-9:30AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (9066 Gunpowder Road Florence, KY) on Friday, April 26, 2024, followed by a service at 9:30. Burial will take place at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown.
