Travis Barrix
On January 15, 2024, Travis Charles Bliss Barrix, 34, passed away at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, KY with his family by his side. His sudden loss has been heartbreaking to his family, friends, and the community that loved him so dearly.
Travis was born on April 17, 1989. A gentle soul with immense talent, he earned his bachelor’s degree in music education at the University of Kentucky in 2012. During that time, he sang in the men’s choir- a vocation which allowed him to perform in front of audiences as far as the Notre-Dame Cathedral. He was also a member of Immanuel Methodist church, where he continued to grace others with his song and celebrate his devotion to God in the choir.
Travis’s son and step-children brought him so much joy. His loving and compassionate spirit will live on in their hearts. A devoted father, he loved going to the movies with his family and taking his young son to wrestling matches. Summers were filled with baseball games and trips to the Cincinnati Zoo.
Travis was a clever and fun-spirited individual who took on many passions. He loved playing video and tabletop games with friends and almost never missed a game during football season. He also worked as a Paraeducator at Boone County Schools for two years. There, his teddy-bear disposition and infectious smile impacted students and staff alike.
Travis is survived by his wife, Carisa Barrix, his son, Wesley Barrix, his step-children, Annie, Jack, and Caleb Herald, his parents, Robert and Lindsy Barrix, his brother and brother’s wife, Christian and Kirsten Barrix, and his grandmother, Nancy Henry.
The visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4 PM to 7 PM, and the memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10 AM- both at Immanuel Methodist Church (2551 Dixie Hwy, Lakeside Park, KY 41017).
